Bought by GG secondhand from Parker’s in Broad Street, Oxford, for 9/-. He has crossed through the previous owner’s stamp (Kenneth Smith, Wadham College, Oxford) and has marked two quotations from Paul Valery (’Le Pas’ and ‘Le Cimetiere Marin’) with lines in the margins.
